Australia

We have kept Bennett’s wallabies in our park almost since the very beginning, but this is the first time we have been able to showcase these iconic animals of the continent in an enclosure system organized according to their natural geographic distribution. Among others, visitors can encounter the world’s largest marsupial, the red kangaroo, which is the largest living marsupial on Earth. Alongside them, Australian wild dogs and red-coated dingoes can be seen.

The larger cockatoo species—which are characteristic birds of Australia—such as the Inca, rose-breasted, and yellow-crested cockatoos, live in the park’s outdoor aviaries, while the smaller flat-tailed parrots are displayed in a separate aviary next to the Australian House.

In addition to the colorful parrots, the call of the largest kingfisher, the laughing kookaburra, can be heard from afar. Inside the Australian House, we welcome guests with a photo exhibition and a plant display, where they can learn about characteristic plants such as the eucalyptus and the tea tree.
