The maned sheep inhabits mountainous regions, particularly high-altitude deserts, where it moves with great agility and confidence. It lives in small groups, forming family communities. Its well-developed senses—hearing, sight, and smell—alert it to the presence of predators. In case of danger, it seeks refuge on cliffs; in the desert, its sand-colored fur helps camouflage it. Although it resembles a goat, it is actually a close relative of sheep.
