Southern ground hornbill

This large bird has a distinctive appearance and is extremely active, constantly on the move. It feeds on insects, lizards, snakes, and rodents. It is active during the day and spends the nights in trees. A social bird, it often hunts in flocks of ten. Larger prey is attacked by several birds and consumed together. They defend their territory with loud calls.
